According to statements made by police on Wednesday, around 176 people have been tricked into applying for employment at a fictitious office that closely resembles the health department office of the government of Uttar Pradesh.

Following the arrest of one Pradeep Mishra in the area of Purvanchal Apartment in Vibhuti Khand, the ring was brought to an end.

“The arrested accused disclosed during interrogation that he and his aides, Ram Ashray and Kamlesh Yadav were running a fake organization in the name of Manav Vikas Swasthya Seva Sansthan,” said Raj Kishore Yadav, the Station House Officer of Vibhuti Khand. Ram Ashray and Kamlesh Yadav were also suspected of being involved in the crime.

“In addition to that, they developed a fictitious website under the domain name “IndianHealth.in.” They deceived the candidates by telling them that this organization was part of the health department. Then, they collected money from the candidates by promising to assign them to roles such as district coordinator, district manager, and block health officer.

“In order to give the impression that they were legitimate to the applicants, they provided fake and forged appointment letters. In addition, they organized their training for two months in Lucknow and other districts; after that, they ran off with all of the money,” stated Yadav.

According to sources inside the police department, the accused would charge anywhere between Rs 200,000 and Rs 10,000,000 depending on the post.

“They also conducted interviews of candidates and gave them identity cards,” the person from the police department stated.
