Ebonyi government declares health, education emergency 2023

Friday saw Ebonyi Governor Francis Nwifuru proclaim a health and education emergency.

On Friday, Mr. Nwifuru’s CPS, Monday Uzor, said this.

He said the governor mentioned this during a courtesy visit by Abakaliki Medical and Dental Consultants of Nigeria and Ebonyi State University Management and Governing Council members.

He stated the governor, recognizing the importance of excellent health to development, declared his government would not rest until the health and education sectors are fully overhauled.

How do we fix several state general hospitals? We’re discussing human capital development and elder and kid welfare.

We need to declare a health emergency. “Abakaliki needs at least one functional hospital, and with our collective support, we will get it right,” he stated.

The governor said he will ask the federal government to restore Ebonyi State University’s Teaching Hospital.

He urged professionals to resist quacks.

The governor promised to establish Ebonyi State University Abakaliki a world-class university.

“We can make Ebonyi State University the best. “We’re in trouble with the university’s status,” Mr. Nwifuru said.

The governor also planned to reinstate international scholarships to raise educational standards.

He promised to reestablish the Scholarship Board and do it correctly.

Ozoemena Oboke, leader of the Medical and Dental Consultants of Nigeria, said they were at the governor’s office to congratulate him on his successful inauguration and equitable political appointments.

Mr. Oboke commended the governor for choosing their member Moses Ekuma as Health Commissioner.

At the courtesy visit, the Management and Governing Council of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, congratulated the governor on becoming the fourth Executive Governor of the state.

Abraham Nwali, Chairman of the Governing Council, and Chigozie Ogbu, Vice-Chancellor, requested financial aid for the institution.
